Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from all of us in Ol’ Savannah.  We hope you have a safe, happy, and murderous 2012.

We’re aiming to release our second full-length album, “Underneath the Old Red Barn”, come early Spring.  A Maritime tour in March is in the works as well!  If everything goes well, we’re trying to get out West for the first time this Summer.

Until Hell freezes over,

O.S.

Thanks to The O-Town Hoedown!

It was one helluva time in Ottawa for the show at Rainbow on September 24. Many thanks to Lefty McRighty and everyone who had a hand in putting on this wonderful week-long event.

A few videos can be found on YouTube. Simply search “Ol’ Savannah @ The O-Town Hoedown” for a chance to view a few songs from the set.

Thank you as well to Andrew Carver for putting up these photos. Take a gander!

Ol’ Savannah at indieWEEK Oct. 14 in Toronto

Friday, Oct 14 at The Rivoli – 9 PM. Please visit http://www.indieweek.com for more details.

“Underneath The Old Red Barn”

Hear what the big boys and girls are saying about Ol’ Savannah’s newest Civil War tune, “Underneath The Old Red Barn.” Make sure to take advantage of this unreleased song, available as this month’s featured download.

Barack Obama: “Whether you are Republican or Democrat, black or white, gay or straight, we must all sit under the old red barn and dream together. I urge each and every one of you to pick up the phone and let your senator know that you support Ol’Savannah and their music. You can listen to ‘Underneath The Old Red Barn’ and make a donation to my campaign at barackobama.com”

Sarah Palin: “I love the Civil War. I mean, I love the South. I can see it from my window at home in Alaska. And y’know, ‘Underneath the Old Red Barn’ is about taking this country back for the real American values we believe in.”

Howard Dean: “WHOOO!!!”

Michele Bachmann: “I was laughed at. People mocked me. They said, ‘Are you crazy?” But I knew this was coming. I knew ‘Underneath The Old Red Barn’ would be the hottest Civil War song this summer. But I don’t believe Pres. Obama’s facts that it was written by Ol’ Savannah. It’s just a natural by-product of nature, and there is not a single shred of evidence that the song has ever caused anyone any harm.”

Prime Minister Stephen Harper will not be responding to media questions concerning “Underneath The Old Red Barn” or Ol’ Savannah.

Ol’ Savannah Named 1 of 15 Roots Acts to Catch at NXNE

Leading up to the North By Northeast festival in Toronto, someone has taken notice of this here whiskey-stompin’ outfit straight outta Montreal. Richard Flohil of FYI Music News (www.fyimusic.ca) lists Ol’ Savannah as one of the intriguing and solid roots acts to catch out of the 600 plus bands participating in this year’s festival.

Ol’ Savannah (The Central, Fri. June 17 @ 12 midnight)

What’s this? An old-timey band out of Montreal playing mountain music from Appalachia? Well, okay then — lots of gruff vocals, banjo and accordion and drums. Singing along, foot stomping and yelling encouragement comes naturally to their audiences.

For more insight into roots music at NXNE, please visit FYI Music .
